13 Days Beijing/Xian/Guilin/Longsheng/Yangshuo/Shanghai

Day 1 
Arrive / Beijing

On arrival, transfer to the 4star Qianmen Hotel or the similar for your four night stay.

Day 2 
Beijing  (B/L/D)

Morning tour of world famous Tiananmen Square and the splendours of the Forbidden City. After lunch visit the Summer Palace, the former summer resort of past Chinese Emperors. This evening you will be entertained by an exciting Chinese Acrobatic Show

The Tiananmen Square -- it is the largest central city square in the world, which serves not only Beijing's symbol but also the whole of China. This immense courtyard is the site of various historical events, which is surrounded by a variety of significant edifices such as the Great Hall of the People, the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and the Monument to the People's Heroes.

The Forbidden City -- it is the largest and the best-preserved imperial palace complex in the world. It has 9,999 rooms in flourishing period with just a single room short of the number that ancient Chinese belief represents 'Divine Perfection' and surrounded by a moat six meters deep and ten-meter high wall.

Day 3 
Beijing  (B/L/D)

In the morning, travel out to China's most famous icon, the Great Wall at Badaling. After lunch, visit the Ming Dynasty Tombs and a cloisonn factory. For dinner, enjoy the world famous local speciality Peking Duck, at one of Beijing's top restaurants.

Badaling Great Wall -- it is situated in Yanqing County, over 70 kilometres (43 miles) north of Beijing. It is the most well-preserved section of the Great Wall, built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). This section with an average altitude of over 1,000 meters (3,282 feet) is the outpost of the Juyongguan Pass.

Day 4 
Beijing  (B)

Morning tour of the Temple of Heaven. Rest of day free for further exploration and/or shopping in this exciting city.

The Temple of Heaven -- where the Emperors paid homage to the glory of heaven, is the largest group of structures in the country dedicated to rituals. To be opposite, the Altar of Earth was used to worship the God of the Earth. The Great Bell Temple, where the Emperor prayed for rainfall in the Qing Dynasty.

Day 5 
Beijing / Xi'an  (B)

Day free, until your late afternoon transfer to the Beijing Railway Station to board your overnigh train to Xi'an.  You will be travelling in a four berth soft-sleeper compartment.  Dinner and beverages can be purchased in the train's restaurant car. Overnight on the train.

Day 6 
Xi'an  (L/D)

Arrive in Xi'an in the early morning. Today's city tour includes visits to the Bell and Drum Towers, the Moslem Quarter, the beautifully preserved City Wall and the Shanxi History Museum (one of the best museums in China). Stay at the 4 star Bell Tower Hotel for two nights.

The Bell Tower -- it is a stately traditional building, that marks the geographical center of the ancient capital. From this important landmark extend East, South, West and North Streets, connecting the Tower to the East, South, West and North Gates of the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty.
 

City Wall -- Adorned with a moat and the circular park, the wall surrounds the square inner city of Xian. It is the most complete city wall to survive in China, as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world, built first in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and renovated in recent years.

Day 7
Xi'an  (B/L/D)

Morning tour to the world famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses archaeological site. After lunch visit the Banpo Museum--located on the site of the 6000 years old Stone Age Banpo Village.

Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses -- At the mention of the great number of Xian attractions, terracotta soldiers always come as the first. The great archeological excavation of Qin (221BC-206BC) Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses unfolded a strong army of altogether 7,000 life-size pottery soldiers, horses, chariots and weapons arranged in battle formations symbolically, guarding the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.

Day 8 
Xi'an / Guilin  (B/L/D)

After breakfast, transfer to Xi'an Airport for your flight to Guilin. On arrival, travel to the beautiful Reed Flute Caves, then to Fubo Hill on the western banks of the Li River, for scenic views of Guilin City and the surrounding countryside. Stay at the 4 star Guilin Bravo Hotel for two nights.

The Reed Flute Cave -- It is a brilliant cave marked on almost all travel itineraries. The cave got its name from the verdant reeds growing outside it, with which people make flutes. Inside this water-eroded cave is a spectacular world of various stalactites, stone pillars and rock formations created by carbonate deposition. Illuminated by colored lighting, the fantastic spectacle is found in many variations along this 240-meter-long cave. Walking through the serried stone pillars, tourists feast their eyes on changing spots, feeling they are in a paradise where the Gods live.

The Fubo Hill -- It reaches the height of 213 meters (698.8 feet) and emerges 62 meters (203.4 feet) above the water. Half of it stands in the river and the other half of it on land. Since the galloping water is always blocked here and eddied, the hill is considered to have the power of subduing waves. Moreover, it was on this hill that a temple in commemoration of General Fubo was built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), which gave rise to the name Fubo Hill.

Day 9 
Guilin / Longsheng / Guilin  (B/L/D)

Full day tour to Longsheng, a remote and mountainous region located 80 kms from Guilin. Highlights of the day will include the spectacular 1100 metres high Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces and a visit to a Zhuang minority village. Return to Guilin in the late afternoon.

Day 10  
Guilin / Yangshuo (B/L/D)

After breakfast, board a Li River cruise boat for the scenically beautiful journey to the town of Yangshuo. During the cruise you will pass by the fantastically shaped peaks that have been the inspiration for so many Chinese classical landscape artists. On arrival in Yangshuo transfer to the Paradise Resort for your overnight stay. Spend the remainder of the day exploring the streets and shopping in this small market town.

Day 11 
Yangshuo / Guilin / Shanghai (B/L/D)

After breakfast, travel back to Guilin Airport by coach for your flight to Shanghai. On arrival transfer to the 4 star Yun's Paradise Hotel, for your two nights stay.

Day 12 
Shanghai  (B/L/D)

Today's sightseeing tour includes visits to the historic the Bund (one of the world’s best preserved examples of Art-Deco architecture, located adjacent to the Huangpu River), the famous Nanjing Road Shopping District and the Yu Gardens. After dinner travel up to the viewing platform of the Oriental Pearl Tower (third highest tower in the world) for spectacular views of the city by night. 
 
Day 13 
Shanghai / Exit ( B )

Day free for further exploration / shopping in this rapidly changing city, until you transfer to Shanghai Airport for your return flights.
