Daily Program
Tour sites: the Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital, the Jokhang Temple, the Potala Palace, the Drepung Monastery.
In the morning your guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to visit the Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital and then Jokhang Temple, the sacred land of Buddhist pilgrims. The temple here was built in 647 and is the earliest wood masonry structure that still exists in Tibet. After lunch you will visit the Potala Palace, the winter home of the Dalai Lamas. The palace was built in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet. Afterwards you will visit the Drepung Monastery, the home of the Gelukpa Sect of Buddhism. This was constructed in 1416 and the second through fourth Dalai Lamas lived here. Later that night you will be brought back to your hotel for the rest of the evening.
