Ltd.and took 5 years to be completed. It is the first of its kind in the world.

The show was designed and directed by Zhang Yimao, who has been awarded to task of directing the opening ceremony at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Impression Liu Sanjie

The performance lasts for 70 minutes and more than 600 actors and actress are involvedThe Impression Liu Sanjie based on a Chinese musical movie made in 1961.It is about a lady called Liu SanJie who lived in the city of Liuzhou (2 hours from Guilin) where she worked in the fields. Liu Sanjie was well known in Liuzhou for her great singing voice. She would always sing while she worked in the fields. One day she left Liuzhou and came to Yangshuo on a bamboo raft and settled here. Then under the Big Banyan tree, Liu Sanjie tossed her love ball to her loved one, and he accepted. They lived happily ever after.

It is a completely different performance compared with the other traditional ones. The whole theatre is put into nature, and the performance changes according to the differences in scenery and weather of the four seasons. If it rains, you can wear the raincoats prepared for you; if you are bitten by the mosquitoes in summer, liquid medicine is prepared; if a flood comes, maybe half of the seats will be underwater. This is the performance; a performance alongside nature.

The performing stage of the Liu Sanjie Impression uses the waters of the Li River and the twelve hills as its backdrop, and forms the largest natural theater in the world. The auditorium is made up in the style of terraced fields, offering 2000 seats. Audiences can appreciate the scenery and performance over a two-kilometer panorama. The performance utilizes large-scale luminist art and unique smoke edges to create an excellent visual effect.
