I just returned to New York from Hangzhou yesterday, and toured a mountain Longjing tea facility. It was a great learning experience (the locals eat the leaves as they drink), the tea was magnificent, and I now have a kilogram of the Spring harvest to enjoy for many cups to come. The region itself is beautiful and most enjoyable, and is highly recommended from either Beijing or Shanghai.

I do not hear about such kind of custom in China. As far as I know, leaving nothing in the bowl shows the respect to the host.

the air ticket price changes over time. the cheapest round trip ticket from Beijing to Chengdu for mid November is about CNY 1,500. Sichuan Airlines. there is no direct flight from Beijing to Puerto Princessa, so i guess you need to fly to Manila, and then transfer to your destination.
